We need to help families in South Shields cope with the rising costs of living as the recession bites The Conservative Party will freeze council tax for two year. This cost will be shared between central and local Government. We believe in incentives and rewarding success - a council who successfully makes savings will be given further funding from central government to ensure costs are even further reduced. We need to help the unemployed in South Shields
We need to get the economy restarted The Conservative Party will introduce a $50bn National Loan Guarantee Scheme. This scheme will underwrite bank lending to businesses and get credit flowing again. Businesses in South Shields are going bankrupt because the credit is not available from the banks. The lack of liquidity is further adding to the depth of the downturn in this recession. We need to look after Pensioners and Savers in South Shields The prudent who have saved money in the hope of future security are being penalised by the low current interest rates. The Conservative Party will abolish income tax on savings for everyone on the basic rate of tax and raise the tax allowance for pensioners by £2,000 to £11,490. We need proper Infrastructure Investment for the North East Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool have all had proper motorways since the 1960s. We are left to make do with a single carriageway A1, which is extremely dangerous and shuns a lot of investment into the region. We need to support our local businesses in South Shields People in South Shields want investment in King Street and the town centre. We can do this by supporting small businesses. We’d see shoppers also benefiting from having goods and services available which are not the same as the typical British High Street. |
